The Judgments

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."

The Scriptures state: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”  Hebrews 9:27

God has stated very forcefully that each individual will stand before God to be judged.  There are two distinct judgments for two distinct groups of individuals; each judgment will be after death.

Those who accepted Christ as Savior and Lord will be judged at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
Those who have not accepted Christ as Savior and Lord will be judged at The Great White Throne Judgment.

This passage was written by the Apostle Paul to believers in the city of Rome.  Romans 14:8   “For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.   9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.  10  . . .  for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Another passage, also written by the Apostle Paul to believers:  2 Corinthians 5:8   “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.   . . .  10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

God clearly states in Revelation 20:10   “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.   11 And I saw a great white throne , and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.   12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.   13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.   14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
